Biogen Inc. (BIIB) Thursday recorded 18 percent increase in first quarter net income to $971 million from $823 million in the previous year. Earnings per share climbed 27 percent to $4.43 from$3.49 last year. On an adjusted basis, earnings attributable to the company was $1.049 billion or $4.79 per share in the previous year.
