NRG Energy Inc. (NRG) Thursday announced first quarter net profit attributable to the company of $47 million compared to net loss of $136 million in the prior year. Earnings per share for the quarter was $0.24 compared to $0.37 a year ago. Comprehensive profit available to the common shares was $72 million, compared to loss of $129 million in the prior year.
