United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC) Wednesday announced a sharp decline in second quarter net income to NT$2.583 billion or $80 million from NT$4.600 billion in the prior year. Earnings per share declined to NT$0.21 from NT$0.37 last year. Earnings per ADS declined to $0.033 from $0.057 last year.
