Whirlpool Corp., an appliance manufacturer, reported Friday significant growth in second-quarter earnings, even as net sales were nearly flat. Ongoing earnings per share as well as top line beat analysts' estimates. Citing the strong first-half results, the company lifted its forecast for fiscal 2016 earnings.
